To begin with, you should draft a will and a living will. A will informs people as to your wishes when you pass, while a living will is used for making medical decisions when youre in a coma or otherwise incapacitated. Both help your family. So does creating a trust. A trust is a type of financial relationship in which you put assets into the trust to give to somebody else, typically a loved one. The trust is not part of your estate proper but rather its own entity. This helps you to protect those assets from litigation so they can be properly inherited or so they can go towards a specific purpose such as paying for medical treatment or a rest home.
