Privacy Policy

Notice at collection. If you ask to contact matching law firms, LawyerLand collects identifiers and contact details, location, internet or device information, the legal category, and the request information you submit. We use those categories to process and route the request, communicate with you, prevent abuse, secure and measure the service, comply with law, and create aggregate or de-identified research. We may disclose submitted request information to potentially relevant lawyers or law firms, including firms that pay LawyerLand for directory or marketing services. Do not submit confidential or privileged information. See Your Privacy Choices.

Information we collect

Contact and request information: name, email address, phone number, location, selected legal category, and the description you choose to provide.
Account and listing information: law-firm, lawyer, account, profile, subscription, and transaction-related information.
Device and usage information: IP address, browser or user-agent information, referring page, requested page, timestamps, and first-party interaction events used to operate, secure, and understand the service.
Communications: messages, requests, support correspondence, preferences, and opt-out instructions.
Information from service providers and public sources: fraud-prevention results, payment or transaction status, and law-firm or professional information.

How we use information

We use information to operate the directory and accounts; route requests and communications; provide customer service; maintain security; detect spam and abuse; process subscriptions and transactions; measure service performance; correct and refresh listings; comply with law; and create aggregated or de-identified research.

Research and public statistics

LawyerLand may publish statistics derived from service activity only in aggregated or de-identified form. Public consumer-request research does not include names, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, free-text narratives, or row-level request records. It is limited to state-level or broader geography, suppresses small groups, and includes methodology and coverage limitations. LawyerLand does not publish an individual consumer's legal story, including in paraphrased or supposedly anonymous form.

When information is disclosed

We may disclose information:

to lawyers or law firms when you ask LawyerLand to help connect you;
to vendors that provide hosting, email, security, payment, analytics, or other operational services under appropriate restrictions;
to prevent fraud, protect users and the service, enforce terms, or respond to lawful process;
as part of a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law; or
with your direction or consent.

LawyerLand does not disclose consumer request narratives in public datasets. LawyerLand does not use consumer request narratives for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because LawyerLand may receive consideration from law firms and may make a submitted request available to firms the consumer asked to reach, applicable state law may characterize some transfers as a “sale” or “sharing.” You can direct LawyerLand not to make future disclosures that are not necessary to complete a request through Your Privacy Choices. This does not prevent a disclosure you specifically request.

Cookies and outside services

LawyerLand and its service providers may use cookies, logs, and similar technologies for authentication, preferences, security, fraud prevention, service measurement, and advertising. Some pages use services such as Google reCAPTCHA; those providers process information under their own privacy terms.

Retention and security

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including providing the service, preserving business and security records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention varies by record type. We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, but no website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live and whether the relevant law applies to LawyerLand, you may have rights to know or access personal information; delete it; correct inaccurate information; receive a portable copy; opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising, or certain profiling; limit use of sensitive personal information; and appeal a decision. LawyerLand will not discriminate against you for making a privacy request. You may also unsubscribe from promotional email through its unsubscribe mechanism.

Use Your Privacy Choices or email customer-service@lawyerland.com with the subject “Privacy request.” Describe the right you want to exercise and the email address connected with your use of LawyerLand. We may need to verify the request before acting and may retain records where law permits or requires it.

Information disclosed during the preceding 12 months

The categories described above may have been disclosed for the purposes described in this policy to law firms or lawyers selected for request routing; hosting, email, security, anti-abuse, analytics, payment, and other operational providers; professional advisers; and government or legal recipients where required. The exact categories depend on the service used. LawyerLand does not knowingly sell or share personal information of consumers under 16.

Children

LawyerLand is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the service.

Changes and contact
