Shaneis aSenior Associate at Layfield & Barrett, he has served as lead counsel on a wide variety of matters, including, among many others, unfair competition, trade dress infringement, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, franchisor-franchisee disputes, partnership and shareholder disputes, and Internet defamation litigation. Shane has significant experience in personal injury and production liability litigation, class action litigation, and securities litigation.

Shane previously worked at the law firms of DLA Piper (the largest law firm in the world) and Snell & Wilmer.

In addition to his private practice, Shane has devoted considerable time to representing clients in pro bono matters. In his pro bono practice, Shane has represented plaintiffs in prisoner rights litigation, mortgage fraud litigation, and civil rights litigation under the National Voter Registration Act. He also represents military service members under the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

Shane is heavily involved in civic and community affairs. He was appointed by Governor Herbert to the Utah Office of Museum Services Advisory Board and serves on the Millcreek Community Council. He serves as a Board Member for Utah Lawyers for the Arts and for the Pioneer Craft House. He recently served on the Executive Committee of the Litigation Section of the Utah Bar; Chair of the Alumni Committee, Bennion Center, University of Utah; and as a Member of the Pro Bono Committee of the Federal Bar Association. Shane is a member of the David K. Watkiss-Sutherland II Inn of Court and is admitted to practice in Utah and Arizona.

Shane also co-founded Revolv Magazine a local arts and culture magazine.

Shane obtained his law degree from Cornell Law School where he served as the Symposium Editor of theCornell Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Utah where he graduated as a Service Learning Scholar.
