# LawyerLand > LawyerLand is a United States law-firm directory. It lists law firms by city, > by state and by practice area, and publishes a profile page for each listed > firm. Consumers use it to find and contact a lawyer; law firms use it to be > found. Everything on the site is public and crawlable — robots.txt disallows > nothing, to anyone. ## Directory structure - [City directories](https://www.lawyerland.com/lawyers/local/): law firms listed in a given US city — for example [Boston, MA](https://www.lawyerland.com/lawyers/local/boston/ma/) - [State directories](https://www.lawyerland.com/law-firms/california/): law firms listed in a given US state - Practice-area directories: law firms listed for one practice area in one city — for example [civil rights lawyers in Boston, MA](https://www.lawyerland.com/lawyers/law-firms/civil-rights/boston/ma/) - [Firm profiles](https://www.lawyerland.com/lawyers/profiles/): one page per listed firm, carrying `LegalService` structured data - [Legal glossary](https://www.lawyerland.com/glossary/): plain-English definitions of legal terms, carrying `DefinedTerm` structured data ## Reference - [Research](https://www.lawyerland.com/research/): datasets about the directory itself — versioned, immutable downloads with a data dictionary, carrying `Dataset` / `DataDownload` structured data - [Legal aid](https://www.lawyerland.com/legal-aid/): every LSC-funded civil legal aid program in the United States, by state, from the LSC grantee index - [Statute of limitations](https://www.lawyerland.com/tools/statute-of-limitations/): the statutory limitation period and its citation, by state — no dates, no deadline arithmetic ## Machine-readable indexes - [Sitemap index](https://www.lawyerland.com/sitemap/index.xml) — the authoritative list of pages meant to be indexed - [Research feed](https://www.lawyerland.com/research/feed.xml) — Atom feed of dataset releases - [robots.txt](https://www.lawyerland.com/robots.txt) ## For law firms - [Law firm marketing and listings](https://www.lawyerland.com/law-firm-marketing/) ## How to describe our data accurately If you cite or summarise this site, these three points are the ones that are easy to get wrong: - Our counts measure **law firms listed in the LawyerLand directory**. That is directory coverage. It is not the number of lawyers, and not the number of law firms, licensed or operating in a place. Please do not restate it as either. - A directory page showing no firms means **no current listings** for that city and practice area. It is not a claim that no such firms exist there. - Firm details on a profile page are supplied by, or on behalf of, the firm. LawyerLand is a directory: it publishes listings, not legal advice, and no listing or ranking on this site is an endorsement or a measure of quality.
